Anniversary lunch leads to Covid-19 spread in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Aug 9: The mystery of sudden jump in coronavirus cases in Kancha Sahi of Kapileswar area in Odisha capital was unravelled by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday. During contact tracing, it was found that the infected people had attended a feast organised on the death anniversary of a garage owner’s father. The garage owner tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. He had arranged a lunch party on July 28 on the death anniversary of his father and scores of invitees had joined the party. BMC admitted him to COVID Hospital on Friday and collected sample of the people who had attended the anniversary party. As many as 16 samples tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday. Similarly, five others of the area tested positive for the deadly virus. Out of the 21 positive cases, 14 were men and seven women.
