Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police has provided additional security along with escort vehicles to Anant Narayan Jena and Jagannath Pradhan, who are contesting from Bhubaneswar-Central Assembly constituency on BJD and BJP tickets, respectively.
The development came a day after they were attacked with crude bombs.
“We have taken the attack on the two candidates seriously. Investigation is underway. Security has been tightened for those poll candidates who were attacked. They were earlier provided with Personal Security Officers. Now, they have provided escort vehicles,” said Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty.
Notably, crude bombs were hurled at the car of former Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Jena when he was travelling in a car on canal Road in Jharpada area. He was admitted to the Capital Hospital ICU.
Similarly, bike-borne miscreants hurled a bomb at the car of BJP candidate Pradhan near the BJP office in Unit-VIII under Nayapalli police limits yesterday night. He escaped unhurt.
