Cuttack: An ailing elephant was found lying abandoned in a crop field at Haladibasanta village under Dalijoda forest range in Choudwar area here in Cuttack district today.
On being informed by the locals, forest department officials along with veterinary doctors rushed to the spot. The doctors have started treating the tusker which is unable to stand. The animal is unable to move its head and body.
Though the exact reason behind the tusker lying abandoned on the crop filed and exact health complications are yet to be ascertained, forest department officials and veterinary doctors along with the locals have started their efforts to cure the elephant.
According to reports, a herd of seven elephants were found moving in the Dalijoda forest locality a week ago. While six elephants had returned to the forest, one elephant, which was supposed to be ill, could not be to make its way back.
