Ahead of Monsoon Session, Odisha Assembly deputy speaker tests COVID-19 positive

Bhubaneswar, Sep 28: Odisha Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Rajani Kant Singh has tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. The deputy speaker informed this through a Facebook post.

“I have been tested positive for COVID-19 and have been admitted to SUM COVID-19 Hospital, Bhubaneswar. As of now I have mild fever. With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, I wish to recover soon and continue to serve the people. I request each and everyone who have come in close contact with me in recent few days to get themselves tested,” Singh said.

As many as 136 out of 757 samples of two legislators, staff and journalists have come out positive for Covid-19. All the samples were collected in Odisha Assembly premises on Saturday. The two senior leaders are Baramba MLA Debiprasad Mishra and Government Chief Whip and Binjharpur MLA Pramila Mallik.

Out of total 757 samples only 20 legislators including the Speaker had given their samples.
