Dhenkanal: Twin girls with a common heart were born to a woman of Parjang area at the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here.
The twins, born to Renubala Behera and Pradeep Behera of Khalapala village under Parjang block, were shifted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishu Bhawan), Cuttack for further treatment. The health condition of both the infants is stated to be stable now.
The girls weigh around four kilograms and are healthy, informed the doctors at the Sishu Bhwan. The couple has also a son.
As per reports, Renubala was admitted to the Dhenakanal DHH this morning following labour pain. The twins are conjoined at chest to stomach.
Senior doctors at the Sishu Bhavan are currently conducting tests to ascertain the next procedure.
The incident reminds conjoined twins Jaga-Balia of Kandhamal who were attached at head. They were successfully separated at AIIMS, New Delhi in 2017.
