Action likely against Damodar Rout

Bhubaneswar: Two senior BJD leaders – party Jagatsinghpur district unit president Bishnu Das and Balikuda-Ersama MLA Prashant Muduli- today met party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik demanding dismissal of former Minister and Paradip MLA Damodar Rout from the party for anti-party activities.

The two leaders accused Rout of conducting meetings with opposition party workers in Ersama.

The petition of the two leaders against Rout before the CM assumed significance as the Paradip MLA has put the Government in a fix by raising corruption issues occurred in various Government agencies.

Last week, Rout, a former Agriculture and Cooperation Minister, had hinted an alleged Rs 100-crore sapling scam and Rs 30-crore Orissa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (Omfed) scam and Rs 800 crore scam in Cooperation department putting the Government and particularly CM Naveen Patnaik in a fix.

Armed with the MLA’s allegation of irregularities, opposition Congress and BJP were seeking an explanation from the Chief Minister.
