Bhubaneswar: The Aahar Centres, which provides meals to urban poor at Rs 5 only, will reopen in the city from today.
All the Aahar centres, some of which were damaged or partially-affected in Cylone Fani, had been closed since May 3.
With the Aahar centres closed, daily wagers and people visiting the capital city for various works are facing problems in having lunch and dinner as they can not afford meals in hotels..
Notably, the city has 11 Aahar centres. The central kitchen near Nakhara from where the food was being supplied to these centres, was also closed as it sustained damage. This was the main reason due to which the civic body was unable to serve meals at the centres.
