8 including 2 doctors arrested for attacking police in Kendrapara

Kendrapara, Aug 1: District police on Saturday arrested eight persons, including two doctors, on charges of attacking a journalist and a cop. According to police, last evening a local journalist noticed gross violation of Covid-19 norms at a private nursing home in the town while accompanying a patient and captured some visuals following which he was attacked by the health facility’s owner and his sons. A sub-inspector of the Kendrapara town police station went to investigate the matter after the journalist lodged a complaint. The cop was also attacked during investigation at the nursing home. Later, a team of Kendrapara town police station raided the private health centre today and arrested eight persons including two doctors and forwarded them to court. The arrested doctors have been identified as Debasish Sahoo and Shibasish Sahoo. On the other hand, Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) has resorted to cease work agitation at the district headquarters hospital protesting against arrest of the two doctors. Only emergency services have been operational at the hospital.
