Malkangiri, July 12: The Malkangiri district administration on Sunday announced a seven-day lockdown in two civic body areas – Malkangiri Municipality and Balimela Notified Area Council (NAC).
The decision was taking after 36 positive cases were detected in the district today. Out of them, 20 cases were reported under the jurisdiction of Malkangiri Municipality and 15 cases were reported from Balimela NAC.
The areas under the jurisdiction of the two civic bodies will remain under lockdown from the midnight of July 12 till the midnight of July 19, said Collector Manish Agarwal.
As many as 170 cases have been reported in the tribal dominated district so far. With 101 recoveries, the district has 69 active cases.
