5T secretary reviews coronavirus situation, directs officials to remain alert

Bhubaneswar, Feb 3: 5T secretary V K Pandian reviewed the coronavirus situation in the state here at the Lok Seva Bhawan on Monday. He discussed with the health department director and secretary and officials of the directorate of medical education and training (DMET) to take stock of the situation regarding the coronavirus scare and directed the officials to remain alert. Blood samples of five people sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for coronavirus were tested negative. India’s third case of coronavirus was reported in Kerala on Monday. The first two cases were also reported from here. All three patients are students who returned from Wuhan city of Chine, the epicentre of the outbreak. The coronavirus outbreak originated in China and spread to more than 20 countries across the world in the last few weeks. The infectious disease has killed over 350 people in China. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the outbreak a global health emergency.
