5633 villages in 66 blocks in 9 districts of Odisha declared drought-affected

Bhubaneswar: As many as 5633 villages in 66 blocks in nine districts of Odisha have been officially declared drought-affected.

Farmers in 66 blocks of these nine districts have suffered crop loss of 33 per cent and above.

As per the reports received from the Collectors through the Agriculture and Food Production Director, at least 233173.8 hectares of crop land in 5,633 village sunder 1186 gram panchayats of 66 blocks and 16 ULBs of nine districts – Bargarh, Bolangir, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Sambalpur and Sundargarh have sustained crop loss of 33 per cent and above to moisture stress.
