Bhubaneswar: At least 45 platoons of police force will be deployed for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Khurda on Monday, informed IG (Central Range) Soumendra Priyadarshi.
IG (Central range) Soumendra Priyadarshi today reviewed the security arrangements in Gosala Ground in Khurda. The Prime Minister will address a public meeting at Gosala Padia on the foothills of historic Barunei Hills.
During his three-hour long visit to Odisha, Modi will dedicate IIT-Bhubaneswar campus to the nation, besides laying foundation for the campus of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Berhampur, and inaugurating the Archaeological Museum, Lalitgiri, Modi is scheduled to address a public meeting at Gosala Padia to commemorate the Paika rebellion.
The Central Government is celebrating bicentenary of the historic Paika Rebellion. Modi will release the commemorative coin, stamp and inaugurate the Chair at Utkal University in memory of the rebellion.
The Paika Rebellion, also called the Paika Bidroha, was an armed rebellion against British East India Company’s rule in Odisha in 1817.
The Paikas were the traditional militia of Odisha who served as warriors.
