4 GRP staff suspended in Jharsuda PDS rice recovery case

Jharsuguda, Jan 14: Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday said it has suspended four staffers for alleged negligence of duty after it recovered a huge quantity of rice meant for public distribution system (PDS) last week. Four staffers, including a RPF Post Commandant, have been suspended on charges of negligence of duty, said an official. The GRP had recovered 200 quintal of rice on last Wednesday night from an abandoned house situated near rail line at Doubling Colony in Jharsuguda town. The rice sacks carry logo of Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (OSCSC). The GRP had seized the rice as nobody claimed possession during recovery of the grain.
