Puri: The third Rath Yatra coordination meeting was held under the chairmanship of Law Minister Pratap Jena today here. Commerce and Transport Minister Padmanav Behera also attended the meeting.
The two Ministers took stock of the preparations for the annual car festival which falls on July 4 and directed all departments to complete preparations by June 25.
While directions have been issued to restore power supply by June 30 and improve drainage systems in Puri district by June 25, the Law Minister asked the concerned officials to evict encroachments on the Grand Road at the earliest.
A total of 155 platoons of police force will be deployed during the festival in the pilgrim city during the mega event.
The Law Minister also asked the Forest Department to submit final status report on Jagannath Bana Prakalpa within three months.
It was also decided that five ambulances will be mobilized for swift action on Puri-Bhubaneswar national highway during the festival. It was further revealed that a total of 192 trains will run to and from Puri during Rath Yatra.
