{"id":21654,"sizeSlug":"large"} Bhubaneswar, 7/12: As many as 29 kalyan mandaps (marriage venues) across the capital city will be sealed. A notice to this effect has been issued by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). The move has worried the kalyan mandap owners as the marriage season has started and these venues have been booked in advance. {"id":21655,"sizeSlug":"large"} The closure notice has been served on 29 kalyan mandaps for not paying attention to the parking system and solid waste management. The deficient kalyan mandaps have mostly been identified at places like Patia, Chandrasekharpur, Mancheswar, Gada Gopinath Prasad Colony and Kalpana Area. {"id":21656,"sizeSlug":"large"} BMC sources said as these kalyan mandaps do not have parking facilities, the vehicles are parked on the road, causing encroachments. Besides, unhygienic condition is being created due to absence of solid waste management. This has led to widespread public resentment, for which the BMC has initiated action to seal such kalyan mandaps. {"id":21657,"sizeSlug":"large"} BMC’s strong stand has frightened the kalyan mandap owners, who have received closure notice. They use to earn heavy income during the marriage season, which has started. Several clients have already booked their mandaps in advance. If the mandaps will be sealed, they have to refund the money to the clients.
