Bhubaneswar:.The death toll due to cyclone Fani rose to 64 with 21 more casualties being confirmed hy the State Government just in one day on Sunday. The toll was 43 on Saturday.
According to Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi, the highest number of 39 people died in Puri district while nine persons succumbed in Khurda, six persons in Cuttack, four in Mayurbhanj and three each were killed in Kendrapara and Jajpur.
Of these deaths, while 25 persons died due to falling of walls, 20 succumbed coming under electric polls, hoardings and trees etc. Similarly, six persons died due to collapse of roofs and asbestos. The reason behind death of 13 people were yet to be ascertained, said the SRC report.
