20 cops in Bhubaneswar sent to quarantine after coming in contact with Covid-19 infected

Bhubaneswar, May 9: As many as 20 police personnel working with the Janala Police Outpost and Jatni police station have been sent to quarantine after they came in contact with a Covid-19 infected person from Maharashtra. A 42-year-old man, who is a driver by profession, was tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday. As per reports, the man driving a Covid-19 kit laden truck had an accident in Jatni area few days ago and police personnel had rescued him. “He was taken to AIIMS by police personnel in an ambulance subsequently the man was tested positive for Covid-19. We later identified the primary and secondary contacts of the man and sent all police personnel working with the outpost to quarantine. Besides we have also sent other police personnel who came in contact with cops who rescued him,” said a senior police official. Police have also disinfected the outpost building and police vans. “ We have also made requisition for additional deployment of police personnel for the police station,” added the official.
