Bhubaneswar: A state of fear has now prevailed at Banika village under Champua forest range in Keonjhar district as a herd of 16 elephants are moving near the village since last night.

According to reports, elephants damaged a house and ate quintals of rice of Chintamani Mahant of the village. Now, forest officials are trying to drive away the pachyderms into the forest.

It may be noted that elephants coming from the nearby jungle often enter the village in search of food.
