Bhubaneswar: Ahead of elections, excise sleuths and police personnel are now conducting raids to seize illegal cash and contraband items across the State as per the instruction of the Election Commission of India.
Police seized 120 grams of brown sugar and arrested three persons from Jaleswar in Balasore district last night. The cost of the seized brown sugar would be about Rs 12 lakh.
Reports said three persons were transporting the contraband from West Bengal to Khurda in Odisha when they were intercepted at Jaleswar for a check. During checking, they were found carrying the packets of brown sugar.
“120 grams of brown sugar seized and three persons were arrested for transporting them. Further investigations are on,” said officials.
