Bhubaneswar: Normal life has gone out of gear in Nuapada district due to a dawn-to-dusk bandh underway in the entire district with a demand of establishment a medical college and hospital in the district headquarters.
The 12-hour Bandh convened by the Medical Establishment Joint Action Committee has been supported by various organisations, including the lawyers’ association.
Due to the Bandh, shops and bazaars and different Government offices have remained closed. Vehicular movement has been disrupted in the entire district.
“People belonging to the entire Nuapada district and neighbouring regions are depending on the District Headquarters Hospital, Nuapada. People are not getting adequate health services. Adequate and quality health services will be available to people if a medical college and hospital is established. The administration has sat silent despite repeated requests. We have now been forced to intensify out stir,” said agitators.
