Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre issued thunderstorm with lightning and rainfall warning for 11 districts between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm today.
People of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, Keonjhar, Angul, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Mayurbhanj have been advised to remain alert during this period.
“Moderate thunderstorm/lightning with to moderate rainfall and gusty wind speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Boudh, Angul, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm,” warned the latest IMD bulletin.
Meanwhile, heatwave warning has been issued for seven districts western Odisha for next five days.
Nine places recorded temperature over 43 degree Celsius on Monday with Sonepur recording the highest temperature at 44.8 degree Celsius.
On the other hand, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has advised people to listen to radio, watch TV, read newspaper for local weather news. It asked people to drink sufficient water, even if not thirsty, and use ORS (oral rehydration solution), homemade drinks like lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water and buttermilk to keep hydrated.
